Fada n'gourma: The second edition of the peace caravan named "Djama B©og-N©r©" took place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Fada N'Gourma, situated in the Goulmou region, aiming to foster peace, inter-community dialogue, and coexistence. Initiated by the Islamic Consultation Framework of Burkina Faso (CCIB), this caravan is part of a series of activities designed to enhance social cohesion and peace across Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the national coordinator of the CCIB, Imam Alidou Ilboudo, emphasized that peace is a collective endeavor and the responsibility of every citizen. He advocated for actions beyond mere speeches, encouraging daily activities that promote understanding and social cohesion.
Imam Ilboudo urged all societal segments, including youth, elders, religious and traditional leaders, women, and administrative authorities, to actively engage in fostering peace. He noted existing tensions related to religious and traditional matters, stressing that these should not lead to division. Instead, he encouraged the people of Burkina Faso to focus on shared values embedded in both religion and tradition to build unity.
Moreover, Imam Ilboudo appreciated the support from the interfaith council for peace and social cohesion, which backs the caravan along with other peace-promoting initiatives. He called on the residents of Fada N'Gourma to internalize and propagate the messages shared during the caravan within their families, places of worship, and communities.
Imam Ilboudo also acknowledged the resilience of the Goulmou people amidst challenging security situations, commending the defense and security forces for enabling them to maintain their daily lives.
Hassan Djibilirou, the technical advisor to the governor of the Goulmou region, representing regional authorities, expressed contentment with the caravan's organization. He highlighted the significance of peace, particularly given the security challenges faced by the country in recent times. Djibilirou remarked that the caravan will inspire the community to incorporate peace into everyday practices.
He also mentioned that various cultural activities and communications will convey peace messages inspired by local cultural values, aiming to enhance social cohesion and promote regional development.
