Burkina Faso Ministry Honors Late Musician Pata Pata Dj

Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism paid a tribute to the Burkinabe musician and entertainer Karl Patrick Rabe, popularly known as "Pata Pata Dj", following his death on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Ouagadougou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the department in charge of Culture expressed its "deep sadness" over the loss of this notable figure in ambient music and coup©-d©cal© within Burkina Faso. The ministry lauded the achievements of an artist who significantly influenced the national music scene, notably through his participation in the AS DJ collective, a group that invigorated Burkinabe music in the early 2000s.

Pata Pata Dj, who released two albums, four singles, and one maxi, has been acknowledged by the ministry for his contributions to enriching Burkina Faso's musical landscape and energizing the national cultural scene. The Ministry of Culture extended its condolences to his family and the broader Burkinabe cultural community, honoring the memory of a "talented and committed artist."
