Boulgou: The High Commissioner of Boulgou Province, Domegbeguiere Constantin Dabire, presided over the official ceremony in Tenkodogo for the distribution of Income-Generating Activity (IGA) kits to 50 beneficiaries of the Innovation Center’s Empowerment Support Project. He praised the initiative, which he said would enable young people and vulnerable individuals to become self-reliant and contribute to job creation in their communities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the project is implemented by Enabel through the CEAS Burkina/WakatLab consortium with the support of the Kingdom of Belgium. It aims to strengthen the socio-professional integration of women, young people, and vulnerable people in the provinces of Boulgou, Kouritenga, and Ganzourgou.
In total, 50 beneficiaries were supported for twelve months through technical and entrepreneurial training, coaching, psychosocial support, as well as practical internships with master craftsmen. The High Commissioner of Boulgou emphasized that this initiative responds to the economic and social challenges faced by displaced and vulnerable populations in the region.
Domegbeguiere Constantin Dabire stated that the beneficiaries, who have already received capacity building, will be self-reliant and active in life. He stressed the need to go beyond theoretical training by providing beneficiaries with concrete working tools.
The High Commissioner also invited technical and financial partners to continue initiatives promoting the economic empowerment of the population. Kits to facilitate socio-professional integration were mentioned, with the manager of the Innovation Center, Abass Sore, indicating that each beneficiary received support tailored to their profile and the economic realities of their locality.
Aurore Zombre, the entrepreneurship and access to finance project manager at Enabel, explained that this project is part of a resilience strategy in a context marked by population displacements. Enabel chose to invest in this program to help vulnerable people regain economic stability through vocational training and the acquisition of appropriate equipment.
She explained that the beneficiaries were first placed with master craftsmen in the intervention area to strengthen their skills before receiving kits to launch their income-generating activities. The equipment provided covers several areas of activity identified by the beneficiaries themselves based on local economic opportunities.
The ceremony also included awareness sessions on the responsible use of the kits, equipment maintenance, and best practices for managing income-generating activities. By officially handing over the kits, the administrative authorities and project partners reaffirmed their commitment to promoting local entrepreneurship and strengthening the economic resilience of the people of Boulgou.
