Kenedougou: High Commissioner Issiaka Segda launched the paving work around the perimeter of the Hounde Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) on Saturday, May 23, 2026. This initiative puts into action the endogenous development vision championed by the authorities in Tuy Province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this project is part of the implementation of the Presidential Initiative for Community Development (PICD). It saw strong mobilization of the population who came to contribute. At the CMA site, men and women, equipped with shovels or transporting sand, actively engaged alongside the administrative and municipal authorities.
Piles of sand and gravel, as well as bags of cement and molds, testify to the effective start of the work. High Commissioner Issiaka Segda symbolically laid the first paving stones, thus officially marking the start of the construction project. He explained that this project addresses a need and will help improve access to the health center in all seasons, strengthen
sanitation and hygiene in the healthcare environment, and offer better working conditions for healthcare staff as well as a more dignified welcome for users.
Through this action, the High Commissioner emphasized the practice of the vision of endogenous development championed with determination by Comrade-President Captain Ibrahim Traore and the entire Government. He invited the population to become more involved to ensure the success of the project.
The Chief Medical Officer of the Hounde health district, Dr. Youssouf Ouedraogo, welcomed the initiative, which he believes will contribute to improving working conditions for healthcare staff while strengthening hygiene and health safety within the CMA. He commended the provincial authorities for their continued support of health initiatives.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the members of the steering committee responsible for coordinating the work were introduced. The committee is headed by Souleymane Dianda, President of the Hounde Municipal Special
Delegation, who called on the various social groups, villages, and associations to contribute to the project by taking concrete actions on the ground. The prefects of the departments of the province, designated as focal points, were instructed to continue the mobilization of the populations in their respective localities.
