Gogo Departmental High School Concludes Sports Event with Emphasis on Social Cohesion


Kenedougou: The Gogo Departmental High School concluded its sports and cultural activities on Friday, May 22, 2026, with the Principal’s Cup final, organized under the banner of fair play, fraternity, and social cohesion. The ceremony took place under the chairmanship of the President of the special delegation of the commune of Gogo, Issa Tiendrebeogo, under the sponsorship of Naaba Boulga, chief of the village of Kopelin, and under the coordination of the principal of the establishment, Djakalia Ouattara.



According to Burkina Information Agency, official speeches, artistic performances, the grand football final, and the awards ceremony were the highlights of this festive and educational day. In his speech, the headmaster welcomed the administrative and customary authorities, the guests, as well as the students and staff present. He congratulated the two finalist teams, the Terminale and Premiere classes, before inviting them to preserve the spirit of fair play that marked the entire competition. He also urged the referees to be impartial in order to ensure the smooth running of the match.



The head of the institution expressed his gratitude to the Nabikinga of Gogo, the PDS, the sponsor, the school council, the high school staff, and the student committee for their support in organizing the event. For Naaba Boulga, the patron of this edition, the choice made in his person constitutes “an honor and a great satisfaction.” He thanked the headmaster and his team for the organization and expressed his willingness to support such initiatives in the future.



Speaking in turn, the PDS of the commune of Gogo praised the principal’s initiative and the commitment of the educational staff in supervising the learners. He emphasized that the activity contributes not only to the students’ academic success but also to their physical and moral development. He reminded the students that sport is a true school of life, teaching effort, perseverance, unity, and solidarity while inviting them to cultivate these values and to devote themselves fully to their studies.



On the sporting front, the final pitted the final year classes against the penultimate year classes. After a hard-fought but fair-play match, the final year classes emerged victorious with a score of 1-0, thus winning the trophy and a cash prize. Alongside this final, the students also took part in cultural competitions organized in the morning in the presence of the headmaster and staff of the establishment.
