Bobo-Dioulasso Musical Comedy Premiere Receives Enthusiastic Reception

Ouagadougou: The preview of the musical comedy “Sya An Ka Soo, H¨r¨ Soo” was showcased this Monday evening in Bobo-Dioulasso, garnering praise as “quite dense and electric” by PDS Laurent Kontogom.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the production by the Sinidjigui and Siraba associations is part of the centenary celebrations of the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso, set to take place from 1926 to 2026. The performance, which explores the history, identity, and cultural richness of Sya, was presented at the central town hall.

The President of the Special Delegation of the municipality, Laurent Kontogom, described the artistic performance as “a rather dense and electric work,” highlighting its blend of popular song, contemporary dance, music, and historical narration. Although the organizers emphasized that the screening was merely a preview of the work yet to be finalized, Kontogom expressed that the “first presentation is already a success.”

“This large-scale artistic project has a promising preview. For a first attempt, it’s already a masterstroke,” Kontogom stated. He praised the dedication of the project leaders and expressed gratitude to all guests for their support of the cultural initiative. The presence of living human treasures was acknowledged as an encouragement to the project.

Diafod© Alexandre Kaba Diakit©, the new project coordinator, emphasized the challenge of finalizing the monumental work for its complete presentation during the centenary festivities. The estimated budget for this effort is around 50 million FCFA. While not making a definitive commitment, the PDS assured that all efforts would be made to support the project and ensure its full presentation in December.
