Ouagadougou: A workshop organized by the National Agency for the Promotion of Inclusive Finance (ANPFI) was held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in Bobo-Dioulasso. The event aimed to reconcile the financial needs of beneficiaries in the Guiriko region with the products and services offered by ANPFI.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop was presided over by Jacob Koudougou, Secretary General of the Guiriko Regional Council. He highlighted that the Burkinabe government has prioritized financial inclusion as a strategic tool in its national development policy to combat poverty, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen the economic resilience of its population. Koudougou emphasized that the workshop served as a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and engaging in collective reflections to enhance financial inclusion efforts.
Koudougou expressed appreciation for the diverse participation in the workshop, viewing it as an indication of the shared interest in advancing financial inclusion. He expressed hope for “relevant recommendations and concrete commitments that will improve existing mechanisms and sustainably strengthen access for the people of our region to economic and financial opportunities.”
Wango Fid¨le Yam©ogo, Director General of ANPFI, noted that since January 1, 2025, the agency has been tasked with leading and coordinating initiatives to promote financial inclusion across the nation. The agency has undertaken actions such as supporting income-generating activities, fostering local entrepreneurship, and developing inclusive financing mechanisms. While progress has been made, challenges remain, prompting regional consultation workshops in various cities, including Ouagadougou, Koudougou, and most recently, Bobo-Dioulasso.
Yam©ogo stated that the meeting in Bobo-Dioulasso provided a new opportunity to listen, exchange ideas, and co-create solutions tailored to the specific needs of Guiriko region beneficiaries. “The ambition pursued through these consultation frameworks is clear. It is about building, with all the stakeholders involved, more effective, more accessible, and more sustainable support mechanisms for the benefit of the population,” he said.
G©rard Sanou, facilitator of the cassava cluster in Bobo, participated in the workshop and praised ANPFI’s initiative. He appreciated the agency’s efforts to include them in the reflection works and to consider them in the financing types offered by the agency.
