Boussouma: The Minister of Justice, Mr. Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, held a meeting on Monday with the traditional authorities of the Kingdom of Boussouma to discuss the operationalization of the Faso Bu-Kaor© law, focusing on the traditional dispute resolution bodies it encompasses.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this 72-hour gathering is designed to harmonize the understanding of the law among stakeholders, enhance the capacities of actors concerning the rules for the composition and operation of traditional bodies, and to review case management tools along with models of registers and minutes. Minister Bayala encouraged participants to put forward pertinent recommendations to ensure the effective implementation of these traditional bodies within the Kingdom of Boussouma.

Mr. Edasso Rodrigue Bayala emphasized that the establishment of these bodies underlines the Government’s commitment to promote indigenous values as mechanisms for development, sovereignty, and social cohesion. He highlighted that the Faso Bu-Kaor© law acknowledges and fortifies the traditional and customary chiefs’ roles in conflict prevention and resolution while entrusting them with greater responsibility.

Minister Bayala further explained that this reform aims to create a justice system that is more accessible, quicker, cost-effective, and better aligned with the socio-cultural realities of the population. It is also expected to help alleviate congestion in traditional courts. His Majesty Naba Sigri, Dima of Boussouma, who welcomed the ministerial delegation, offered his blessings to the Government and participants through his Sonkoglnaba Saga and reiterated the dedication of traditional and customary authorities to actively engage in the law’s implementation.
