Burkina faso: Starting June 11, any truck transporting cement without the required documents will have its load seized, BMCRF. The Mobile Brigade for Economic Control and Fraud Repression (BMCRF) announced on Thursday that cement plants, distributors, and wholesalers will now be required to communicate information relating to their cement stocks to strengthen the monitoring of distribution channels and combat price speculation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, from June 11, 2026, any truck leaving the factory or seen in circulation without the necessary documents will have its load seized and confiscated, with all actors involved being sanctioned in accordance with the regulations in force, announced the coordinator of the BMCRF, Sanib¨ Faho, during a press briefing.
Particular attention will be paid to the transparency of distribution channels as well as to the availability of cement on the national market, the prices of which remain unchanged, namely 100,000 F/tonne for CPJ 35 and 115,000 F/tonne for CPA 45. During a press briefing on the cement situation in Burkina Faso, Mr. Faho indicated that this measure is part of the actions undertaken by the authorities to clean up the market and guarantee the availability of the product for the benefit of consumers.
Several observations made in recent weeks have highlighted illicit commercial practices that disrupt the normal functioning of the market, distort competition, and harm the interests of the population. The general coordinator of the BMCRF specified that the economic control services will maintain enhanced monitoring of the production, transport, and marketing of cement throughout the territory.
This measure comes in a context marked by difficulties in the supply of raw materials, disruptions in energy supply, insufficient means of transport, and strong market demand. Mr. Faho indicated, however, that the measures taken by the government to strengthen the power supply to production units, facilitate the supply of raw materials, and improve transport conditions are beginning to produce an effect.
National cement production increased from 169,531 tons during the first half of March 2026 to 185,888.94 tons at the end of May, thus registering an increase of 9.65%. Inviting the public to participate in the fight against fraudulent practices, the general coordinator of the BMCRF called on them to report any breach of regulations by contacting the following toll-free numbers: 80 00 11 84, 80 00 11 85, and 80 00 11 86.
