Ouagadougou: ‘Russia’s experience is a source of inspiration for Burkina Faso,’ declared Bªbgnasgnan Stella Eldine Kabr©/Kabor©, the Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs, during Russia Day celebrations in Ouagadougou. She highlighted the progress and strengthening of cooperation between the two countries since the warming of their diplomatic relations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Kabr©/Kabor©, speaking on behalf of the President of Faso, conveyed the congratulations and fraternity of the Burkinab¨ people to the Russian people. She emphasized the relevance of the Russian model in Burkina Faso’s current context, stating, ‘Russia’s experience is a source of inspiration for Burkina Faso, which is engaged in a process of political, economic, and institutional refounding through the Popular Progressive Revolution.’
The minister further explained how Russia’s experience motivates the country to transform constraints into opportunities and build endogenous development based on national priorities and local realities, with the well-being of the population at the center. She welcomed the progress in the partnership between Ouagadougou and Moscow, citing significant developments such as the reopening of the Russian embassy in 2023, the anticipated visit of the head of state in May 2025, the establishment of a joint intergovernmental commission, and the signing of agreements in energy, health, agriculture, training, and defense.
Additionally, she noted emerging opportunities in civil nuclear energy. In response, Russian Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Igor Martynov, celebrated the Russian national holiday, emphasizing the unity of the Russian people as the “guarantee of the greatness and invincibility of Russia.” He reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to defending its identity and interests in a tense international context while welcoming cooperative relations with Burkina Faso.
Ambassador Martynov also announced that the third Russia-Africa summit will take place in 2026, inviting Burkina Faso and the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) to strengthen partnerships between Russia and the African continent.
