Houet: The International Focolare Movement officially launched the project to build the Chiara Lubich private high school in Sakaby, situated in the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso. This initiative aims to provide educational opportunities, especially for children from displaced populations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Bernard Minani, co-leader of the Focolare Movement in Bobo-Dioulasso, highlighted the project’s focus on young people who have left their villages seeking peace in Bobo-Dioulasso. He emphasized the need for these youths to have a place to continue their education in a secure environment.
The Focolare Movement has been present in the city of Sya for five years. The chosen site for the high school is intended to offer a serene learning environment for the youth of Sakaby and nearby areas. Local educational authorities view this project as a vital relief to the municipality’s education system, which is experiencing pressure due to an increasing population.
Nicolas Doye Tuembe, the director of education promotion for the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso and an inspector of primary and non-formal education, expressed satisfaction with the initiative. He acknowledged the contribution of the Focolare Movement and others in enhancing the municipal educational infrastructure. Tuembe noted the dual benefits of the high school project for the Sakaby community, as it will improve access to education and provide a training center for parents, reducing the need for children to travel far from home for schooling.
