Dalo/ziro: A baobab tree, a symbol of resilience, was planted at the gendarmerie during National Tree Day. The municipality of Dalo commemorated the 8th edition of National Tree Day with a planting operation at the Dalo Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by the Prefect, President of the Special Delegation (PDS), Ragnangnewend© Ouedraogo, and involved the participation of administrative, customary, and religious authorities, Defense and Security Forces (FDS), Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), as well as many citizens. A baobab tree, an emblematic symbol for the commune, was planted to represent strength, resilience, and longevity.
Lieutenant Bazi© Maxim of the Water and Forestry Service discussed best planting practices and stressed the importance of regular monitoring to ensure the seedlings' survival. In total, 15 seedlings of various species, including baobab, moringa, mahogany, cacao, and cashew, were planted.
Lieutenant Ouedraogo noted that planting a baobab within the gendarmerie compound symbolizes the connection between strength and the protection of the population and their property. He urged residents to adopt and protect trees to support environmental preservation and combat climate change.
The planting activity underscores Dalo's commitment to restoring vegetation cover, fighting desertification, and promoting sustainable development.
