Ouagadougou: Adama Kambon©, the representative at the Presidency of Faso for the Nakamb© region, encouraged the agricultural Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the third cohort on Tuesday to put into practice the knowledge acquired during their training in order to contribute effectively to achieving food sovereignty in Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, while touring the commune of Boussouma, Comrade Kambon© met with the agricultural VDPs who were trained as part of the Presidential Initiative for Food Self-Sufficiency. The aim of this visit was to exchange with the beneficiaries, assess their level of engagement, and encourage them to fully exploit the opportunities offered by their training.
Addressing the agricultural VDP, the mission officer praised their commitment and patriotism for agreeing to undergo three months of training focused on agricultural production techniques and rural entrepreneurship. “I came to thank you and congratulate you for the efforts made during your training. You have acquired skills that must now be put to use for the agricultural development and food sovereignty of our country,” he said.
He emphasized that trained young people should not systematically expect a job from the State, but rather value the knowledge acquired to create wealth and become actors in local economic development. “Those who seriously put the lessons learned into practice can become true agricultural entrepreneurs and role models for young people,” he added.
Adama Kambon© also noted that the government continues to provide support through various measures, including free plowing of land made available to agricultural volunteers. He further commended the commitment of the Boussouma municipal authorities, particularly the president of the special delegation (PDS), for their willingness to support young people in implementing their activities.
However, he stressed the primary responsibility of the beneficiaries. “Those who wish to be supported must first demonstrate their determination to work. The first step must come from themselves,” he emphasized. Through this tour, the authorities intend to maintain the momentum of supporting agricultural VDPs in order to make agriculture a real lever for job creation, wealth, and food sovereignty for Burkina Faso.
