Niaogho: Kiaka SA and stakeholders are building trust around the mining project on the occasion of the second ordinary session of the year 2026 of the Departmental Framework for Consultation of Stakeholders, held in the meeting room of the town hall.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the commune of Niaogho, Karim Sana, alongside officials from the mining company Kiaka SA, reaffirmed their commitment to permanent dialogue with all stakeholders. The meeting gathered administrative and local authorities, representatives from Kiaka SA, decentralized technical services, and groups affected by the mining project to discuss local development and mining activities.
In his opening address, PDS Karim Sana praised the strong mobilization of participants and the mining company’s willingness to engage in this dialogue forum. He emphasized the Departmental Consultation Framework as a critical tool for strengthening collaboration among development stakeholders and ensuring that local population concerns are adequately addressed. Sana asserted that dialogue is essential for building trust between communities, local authorities, and the mining company.
A significant highlight was the presentation by Idrissa Kond©, head of the mining project analysis department, on innovations introduced into the National Mining and Quarry Development Fund. These reforms aim to improve fund management efficiency and its impact on local communities’ development. Kond© encouraged participants to familiarize themselves with the new provisions to fully benefit from the opportunities they offer.
Representing Kiaka SA, Armel Wendyam Bouda summarized the company’s activities over the past six months, focusing on actions to restore livelihoods of those affected by the mining project and socio-economic support initiatives for affected individuals and communities. This accountability approach reflects Kiaka SA’s desire to maintain a transparent relationship with the public.
Dr. Christian Ou©draogo, Director of Corporate Affairs, stated that stakeholders should appreciate progress and understand the Local Mining Development Fund’s directions. Discussions following the presentations allowed participants to ask questions and raise concerns about the mining project’s impact and the municipality’s development prospects.
Dr. Ou©draogo invited participants to prioritize concerns and use appropriate channels for grievance transmission. In closing, Karim Sana urged continued dialogue and centralized concerns with the municipality to facilitate resolution, believing it would strengthen social cohesion and preserve trust among stakeholders.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the discussions and commended the joint efforts of the municipality and Kiaka SA to promote inclusive and sustainable local development.
