Mouhoun: The governor calls for mobilization to support mandatory patriotic immersion. The Governor of the Bankui and Sourou region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, launched the fundraising campaign on Friday, June 26, 2026, in D©dougou, to support the second edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion program. The ceremony was attended by representatives of various institutions, technical and social partners, and numerous citizens.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the mandatory patriotic immersion is initiated by the highest authorities of Burkina Faso under the leadership of the comrade President of Faso, Head of State, in 2025. Based on the enthusiasm it generated, the exercise was repeated again this year. However, some innovations have been introduced; instead of 45 days, the immersion program is reduced to 30 days and is only for high school graduates.
In the implementation strategy, every citizen, every legal or natural person is given the opportunity to contribute in cash or in kind, however modest, to support this second edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion which will be held from July 27 to August 26, 2026. For the governor of the Bankui and Sourou region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, the mandatory patriotic immersion is an initiative supported by the highest authorities of Burkina Faso in order to strengthen the civic, moral, and patriotic training of the youth.
"This activity aims to instill in new high school graduates the values of discipline, responsibility, solidarity, and civic engagement, while strengthening their attachment to the ideals of the Nation and their contribution to the development of the country," he explained. In launching the mobilization for contributions intended to support the organization of the event, the governor indicated that this approach will ensure better support for participants and more efficient organization of the various activities planned as part of the training.
"The expected contributions will cover, in particular, the needs related to accommodation, catering, supervision, logistics, as well as the educational and civic activities planned in the program," he said. Babo Pierre Bassinga, moreover, assured that all the resources mobilized will be subject to rigorous management, based on the principles of transparency, good governance, and accountability.
To this end, Governor Babo Pierre Bassinga invited all the sons and daughters of the Bankui and Sourou regions, including those in the diaspora, to contribute to the success of this second edition. The High Commissioner of the Mouhoun province, Bassouleymane Ouattara, President of the provincial cell for compulsory patriotic immersion, explained that the exercise consists of the collar which is done in two ways. Cash contributions are paid to the regional treasurer against issuance of a receipt from the Public Treasury. Contributions in kind are received by the provincial directorate in charge of secondary education against the issuance of a receipt.
"The collection began today and will continue until the end of the immersion. The mobilization will depend on the reaction of the citizens of our province. Already, the momentum has been launched by the contribution of the regional authority, followed by other contributions from the participants," said Mr. Ouattara. For regional authorities, the enthusiasm recorded from the start of the collection demonstrates the willingness of the people to support the State in training a youth aware of its civic duties and resolutely committed to the service of Burkina Faso.
