Gourma: The governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, has called on the people of the region to mobilize for a blood collection operation organized in conjunction with World Blood Donor Day. This appeal was made during the traditional monthly raising of the national colors on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, emphasizing the importance of blood donations in saving lives.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Kafando urged civil society, public service officials, and citizens to engage in the planned activities related to the blood collection operation and the popular cross-country race for World Blood Donor Day. He highlighted the significance of participating in these activities, noting that the official ceremony for the day is scheduled for July 11, 2026, and encouraged the population to donate blood either before or after the sporting events.
Governor Kafando emphasized that blood transfusions and blood products play a critical role in saving millions of lives globally each year. They also extend the lives of patients with severe illnesses and enhance their quality of life. He appealed to the public, stating, "Let's give our blood to save lives, because no one is immune to a situation where they might one day need the solidarity of others," reinforcing the importance of this humanitarian act.
Finally, Governor Kafando expressed hope that the community's mobilization would meet the objectives set by the Ministry of Health for the blood collection campaign in the Goulmou region.
