Ouagadougou: The permanent secretary of the sports youth of the ministry in charge of Sports, Abdallah Golo, launched, this Tuesday July 7, 2026 in Fada N'Gourma, the 7th edition of the national competition of Sports Youth Training Schools (EFORS), under the theme: "Together for a healthy and committed youth".

According to Burkina Information Agency, nearly 800 people, including athletes, coaches and officials, are taking part in this edition which takes place from July 7 to 12, 2026. Seven disciplines are on the program: football, basketball, handball, volleyball, athletics, wrestling, and cycling. The football tournament finals are scheduled for July 12, 2026.

Mr. Golo indicated that the choice of Fada N'Gourma to host this national competition reflects the desire of the highest authorities to demonstrate that the region remains a space of life and hope despite the security context. 'Fada N'Gourma is a resilient city. Despite everything we know, the highest authorities were kind enough to choose the city of Fada to host this competition. Fada N'Gourma is life. Fada N'Gourma is hope. Fada N'Gourma is resilience,' he declared.

The permanent secretary invited the people of Goulmou to support the event with their prayers and mobilization in order to ensure its full success. For his part, the regional director in charge of Sports for Goulmou, Jean Baptiste Koumben, thanked the highest authorities of the country for the trust placed in the region through the organization of this national competition.

He felt that the organization of such a large-scale sporting event in Fada N'Gourma sends a strong message of resilience and determination, demonstrating that life continues normally in the region despite security threats. This 7th edition of EFORS aims to promote sporting excellence, community living and civic values among Burkinabe youth, while strengthening the national sporting next generation.
