Bam: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Comrade Karim Ou©draogo, has called on the province's key stakeholders to align with the President of Burkina Faso and Head of State of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), Captain Ibrahim Traor©'s message. The message, delivered during the second anniversary of the AES, emphasized the need for a reinforced commitment towards sovereignty, peace, and development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner addressed the province on July 7, 2026, following the traditional rotating raising of the national colors at the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources of Bam. He highlighted the AES's inception amidst a security crisis and its role as a sovereign alliance of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, aimed at protecting their freedom and constructing a unified future.
The High Commissioner lauded the Head of State for honoring the Fighting Forces, the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the three countries. He also underscored the Confederation's accomplishments in enhancing political and diplomatic ties and advancing defense and security measures.
The High Commissioner elaborated on the President of Faso's priorities for the second year of the Confederation, which include collective self-defense, economic integration, industrialization, energy and food sovereignty, local resource processing, free movement of people and goods, and the development of scientific, technological, and educational capacities.
Comrade Ou©draogo urged the public to remain vigilant against disinformation and destabilization attempts targeting the AES countries, emphasizing unity, work, sacrifice, and patriotism as the pillars of a sovereign and prosperous Sahel.
Additionally, the provincial director of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources of Bam, Basba Yanogo, shared that the government will provide continued support to producers during the 2026-2027 agricultural campaign. This includes the distribution of 1,128 tonnes of fertilizer and 4,700 tonnes of seeds, as well as the development of 350 hectares of lowland areas and ongoing state subsidies for veterinary products.
"I take this opportunity to thank all the producers in the province as well as the partners who support us," Yanogo stated.
In conclusion, the High Commissioner urged all stakeholders to maintain their mobilization efforts to contribute to the success of the Confederation of Sahel States' Year II roadmap.
