Mouhoun: The constituted bodies of the Bankui and Sourou regions participated on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in the traditional flag-raising ceremony at the High Court (TGI) of D©dougou, presided over by the regional governor, Babo Pierre Bassinga. The constituted forces celebrated republican values.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony organized within the grounds of the Palace of Justice in D©dougou brought together administrative, judicial, military, and paramilitary authorities, alongside officials from decentralized state services. The gathering focused on the values of patriotism, republican discipline, and national cohesion.
The president of the High Court of D©dougou, Drissa Millogo, welcomed the authorities and presented the missions of the jurisdiction. He emphasized that the TGI is a court of general jurisdiction responsible for hearing civil, commercial, social, correctional, and criminal cases within its jurisdiction. Mr. Millogo highlighted the daily efforts of magistrates, clerks, interpreters, and judicial personnel to ensure citizens' access to impartial justice, which is crucial for social peace and institutional stability. He described justice as a social balance factor and a redresser of wrongs, which requires collective support.
Additionally, Mr. Millogo praised the excellent collaboration between the administrative and judicial authorities of the region. The ceremony was also used to inaugurate a new location for the flagpole bearing the national flag within the High Court, seen as a testament to the civic commitment of the court's agents toward national symbols.
Governor Babo Pierre Bassinga read a message from the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Confederation of Sahel States. The creation of the AES and the Confederation reflects the shared desire of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to build a space based on sovereignty, solidarity, and shared responsibility to address security challenges. The governor paid tribute to the fighting forces and martyrs who defended territorial integrity and urged the people to remain united and committed to building a strong, prosperous, and independent Confederation.
The dual focus on promoting the judicial institution and celebrating the Confederation of Sahel States allowed the constituted bodies of the region to reaffirm their commitment to sovereignty, justice, social cohesion, and service to the State. The flag-raising ceremony has become a platform for reinforcing civic-mindedness, patriotism, and collective mobilization for the development and security of Burkina Faso.
