Sissili: The Bishop of the Diocese of Manga, Monsignor L©opold M©dard Ou©draogo, presided over the priestly ordination of five new priests, including two Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers), on Saturday, July 4, 2026, during a Eucharistic celebration at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Manga, in the presence of numerous priests, religious, nuns, and faithful from all the parishes of the diocese.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration brought together the entire diocesan presbyterium, several priests from other dioceses, and a delegation of White Fathers, who came to share the joy of the Church of Manga. In his homily, Bishop L©opold M©dard Ouedraogo exhorted the new priests to remain faithful to their vocation and grateful to the Lord for the gift they had received. He invited them to exercise their ministry with humility, in service to the people of God.

The bishop also welcomed the missionary commitment of the Church in Burkina Faso, noting that the country now has many priests sent on missions across the African continent. He highlighted that this reality testifies to the abundant fruits sown since the arrival of the first Missionaries of Africa in 1900.

On behalf of the new diocesan priests, Father Vincent Nana expressed his deep gratitude to God as well as to the bishop, the trainers, the priests, and the entire Christian community for their support during the years of formation. Speaking on behalf of the new Missionaries of Africa, Father Gr©goire Gouba also expressed his joy at dedicating his life to proclaiming the Gospel and contributing to the universal mission of the Church.

The Catholic community of Manga gave thanks to God for these new priestly vocations. This celebration is particularly significant for the parish of Ti©b©l©, which is witnessing the ordination of its very first priest. At the end of the celebration, the new priests received their first assignment for the pastoral year 2026-2027.

Father Gueswind© Philippe Zoungrana is appointed to the Cathedral Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption in Manga, Father Sylvain Bouboungakem Aguedoni to the Saint Joseph Artisan Parish in Gogo and Father Vincent Nana to the Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Gon-Boussougou. The two Missionaries of Africa, Fathers Paul and Gr©goire Gouba, were sent respectively to Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, illustrating the missionary vocation of the Church in Burkina Faso.
