Sissili: The High Commission of L©o hosted a commemorative ceremony on Monday, July 6, 2026, marking the second anniversary of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES). Presided over by the High Commissioner of the province, T©wend© Isaac Sia, this solemn gathering, marked by the raising of the national flag, provided an opportunity for local leaders to reaffirm their patriotic commitment and to hear the official message from the President of Burkina Faso and current Chairman of the Confederation of Sahel States, Captain Ibrahim Traor©.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in his official message delivered on the occasion of this second anniversary by High Commissioner T©wend© Isaac Sia, the President of Faso, Head of State and current President of the Confederation, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, praised the progress made since the creation of the Alliance on September 16, 2023, and its transformation into a Confederation on July 6, 2024.
The Head of State paid a tribute to the fighting forces and the Sahelian populations for their resilience in the face of the security crisis and external pressures. Presenting what he described as a tangible assessment, Captain Ibrahim Traor© highlighted the significant progress made over two years in the three strategic pillars of the Confederation: defense and security, diplomacy, and development.
Reaffirming the AES's commitment to pan-Africanism, he specified that the ongoing consultations with ECOWAS must be based on non-negotiable principles of mutual respect and sovereignty, before launching an appeal for popular support for the Year II roadmap.
Following the reading of this presidential message, the High Commissioner of Sissili, T©wend© Isaac Sia, took the floor to express his profound gratitude to all the constituted bodies of the province. Despite the late transmission of the information, the provincial authority welcomed the observed mobilization, seeing it as a direct reflection of the availability and dedication of its constituents to the nation. Comrade Sia took the opportunity to urge those present to remain mobilized in the spirit of the progressive popular revolution and the ideals championed by the AES (Alliance for Socialist Education).
This vision resonated with the participants, who praised the clarity and scope of the Head of State's address. For Comrade Henri Damiba, a citizen present at the commemoration, this two-year pause is a powerful symbol, allowing for an assessment of the Confederation's dynamics. He emphasized that adhering to the revolutionary process "sometimes requires sacrifices and abandoning old habits to align with new directives," stressing the importance of disseminating this message to dispel the lack of understanding of the real issues at stake.
In the same vein, Comrade Judith Kabr© highlighted the civic-mindedness of the people of L©o, who responded massively to the call. While encouraging the Confederation's governing bodies to continue their efforts, she reassured the Head of State and his counterparts from the AES of their "full support and mobilization of local stakeholders for the progress and development of the country.
