Nahouri: More than 1,600 cartons of cigarettes and significant quantities of high-risk drugs were incinerated by the High Court (TGI) of P´ in the province of Nahouri.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the incineration took place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, marking a significant step in the fight against illegal substances in the region. The event was overseen by the prosecutor of Faso at the High Court of P´, Ars¨ne Ga«tan Bans©, who commended the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) for their relentless efforts to combat these societal threats.

Prosecutor Bans© highlighted that the substantial seizure was made possible through the coordinated efforts of several units within the province's security services. He also mentioned the involvement of an individual connected to the drug trade, who has been sentenced to community service as part of a penal settlement. This individual will continue to serve their sentence by performing community service within the courthouse premises.

Emphasizing the legal ramifications, Mr. Bans© reminded that the importation and sale of such prohibited products are illegal, and perpetrators will face prosecution. He urged the public to cooperate with security forces to help eliminate these illicit activities. Furthermore, he advised parents to guide their children responsibly, particularly concerning drug-related offenses and the importation of illegal goods.
