Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of the Poni province, Bepampo Ouoba, chaired the first session of the Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) in Gaoua, focusing on the management of internally displaced persons and Universal Health Insurance. The meeting gathered representatives from public administration, local authorities, decentralized technical services, projects and programs, and civil society organizations to deliberate on key humanitarian and social challenges in the province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner emphasized that the Provincial Consultation Framework serves as a platform for dialogue and coordination among local development stakeholders. He highlighted its role in enabling the sharing of crucial information for decision-making and promoting best practices for the population's benefit.
Participants engaged in three presentations addressing the humanitarian situation in Poni province, the food and nutrition scenario, and the Universal Health Insurance scheme, followed by discussions. The session specifically examined the condition of internally displaced persons, particularly those returning to their places of origin due to the efforts of the State and Defense and Security Forces.
The meeting also reviewed the 2026-2027 agricultural campaign and the food and nutrition situation in the province, aiming to assess food availability and encourage agricultural producers for a fruitful campaign.
Jean Sylvanus Ouali, program coordinator of the Semfilms association, stated that his organization supports this activity under the Caravan of Dialogue for Peace and Social Cohesion in southern Burkina Faso. He detailed that the initiative includes facilitating provincial consultation frameworks in Poni and Sissili and organizing cultural awareness events in Lo, Dano, Gaoua, and Bati.
Ouali noted that these activities aim to foster community dialogue and peaceful conflict management, particularly concerning land conflicts. Through film screenings and socio-cultural events, Semfilms intends to enhance social cohesion and educate the population on mechanisms for preventing and resolving disputes related to land access and management.
At the conclusion of the session, the organizers expressed hope that the recommendations would bolster the coordination of humanitarian and social efforts in Poni province and improve the population's living conditions.
