Ouagadougou: The provincial director of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training of Sandbondtenga, Hamad© Tinto, on Wednesday invited the parents of the new baccalaureate holders to trust the authorities, assuring them that all arrangements are in place for the smooth running of the second edition of the compulsory patriotic immersion (IPO), scheduled from July 27 to August 26, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Comrade Tinto, rapporteur of the provincial organizing cell of the IPO, indicated in an interview with AIB that the preparations are practically complete. “Everything is ready in terms of mobilizing the actors. We are only waiting for some service providers who will complete the material arrangements,” he said, calling on parents to accompany their children with the necessary equipment and to trust the authorities for the smooth running of this patriotic immersion.
A total of 1,432 conscripts for the mandatory patriotic immersion program (AIPO) are expected in Sandbondtenga province. Four establishments in the city of Kaya have been selected to accommodate them, primarily due to their secure fencing, accessibility, and the availability of drinking water. According to the provincial rapporteur, the accommodation, catering, hygiene, and health infrastructure is already operational to receive the participants.
This second edition is characterized by better anticipation in the mobilization of administrative actors and better involvement of key stakeholders. The conscripts will follow modules devoted in particular to national identity, patriotism, civic engagement, social cohesion, the political history of Burkina Faso, the prevention of violent extremism, digital security, and entrepreneurship. “The mandatory patriotic immersion program aims to cultivate a sense of civic duty and patriotism in young people,” explained Comrade Tinto.
At the end of this immersion, the authorities intend to strengthen participants’ sense of belonging to the nation, love of country, and the civic and patriotic values necessary for exemplary civic behavior. The safety of participants will be ensured at all times by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), with the support of health workers deployed at the various sites. Specific measures have also been planned for people living with disabilities and young girls, notably through the mobilization of peer mentors.
The provincial director finally urged the new high school graduates to observe discipline and respect established rules. The second edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion will take place across the entire national territory and concerns new high school graduates from the 2026 session, from all series combined, who are not engaged in professional activity.
