Ouagadougou: The Association of Journalists of Kouls© (AJK), with the support of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, organized on Thursday in Kaya a day of immersion on tourist and cultural sites of the Sandbondtenga province in order to encourage media professionals to further promote domestic tourism.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the activity, part of the national dynamic of promoting cultural heritage, began with a presentation on the mapping of tourist sites in Kouls©, led by Vincent Ou©draogo, an agent of the Regional Directorate of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (DRCAT).
Emil Segda, coordinator of the AJK, highlighted that the region has more than 160 tourist and cultural sites, 64 of which are classified, but these riches remain little known. ‘Many journalists are unaware of these potentialities. This immersion will allow them to better understand them in order to reorient their productions towards the promotion of cultural and tourist heritage,’ he said, welcoming the support of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism.
The participants then visited the blast furnaces of the Passat© Cultural Association, witnesses to the ancient iron metallurgy, and then the Kaya municipal museum. The blast furnace guide, Roger Bamogo, believed that this initiative would help increase the site’s visibility and advocated for its rehabilitation in order to preserve this heritage for the benefit of future generations.
At the municipal museum, Vincent Ou©draogo invited journalists to report more on the region’s tourist attractions in order to encourage people to visit these sites. Present at the event, the regional director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism of Kouls©, Safiata Oubda, praised this initiative of the AJK, which she described as an important contribution to the promotion of domestic tourism.
