Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Passor© Province, Sadou Ou©draogo, chaired an information and consultation meeting on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Yako, regarding the establishment of the National Youth Advisory Council of Burkina Faso (CNCJ-BF). During the meeting, the Provincial Director in charge of Youth, Harouna Ou©draogo, presented the documents governing the National Youth Advisory Council to the participating organizations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting was organized by the Provincial Directorate of Sports, Youth and Employment (DPSJE) of Passor©, in collaboration with the Yako town hall. It was part of the national process of setting up the CNCJ-BF. The session brought together various organizations, associations, and youth movements of the province in the meeting room of the Yako town hall.
The discussions were centered on the presentation of the interministerial decree no. 2026-0029, which establishes the CNCJ-BF, detailing its responsibilities, composition, and operation. The procedures for participating in the various bodies of the Council, along with the individual application form, were also discussed.
Harouna Ou©draogo, the provincial director of Sports, Youth and Employment of Passor©, explained that the CNCJ-BF is a new structure intended to enhance the representation and participation of young people in governance. The Council’s mission is to promote active civic participation of young people, encourage their involvement in decision-making bodies, and provide a permanent framework for dialogue between public authorities and Burkinabe youth.
In Passor©, the implementation of the CNCJ-BF will lead to the installation of the Communal Youth Advisory Councils (CCCJ) and the Provincial Youth Advisory Council (CPCJ) of Passor©. The provincial director specified that the CNCJ-BF bodies include a National Executive Bureau (BEN) of ten members, a Regional Executive Bureau (BER) of nine members, a Provincial Executive Bureau (BEP) of nine members, and a Communal or District Executive Bureau (BEC or BEA) of seven members. These members are appointed by ministerial decree.
Sadou Ou©draogo, the Secretary General of Passor©, expressed satisfaction with the strong turnout of participants and urged young people to utilize these bodies as platforms for promoting social cohesion and personal development. He emphasized the importance of peace and social cohesion and stressed the need for calm and gender-sensitive selection of representatives from associations.
Young people aged 15 to 35 who are members of a youth organization are eligible for the CNCJ-BF. The deadline for submitting applications was set for Friday, July 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM, to the Yako town hall, the High Commission, and the General Secretariat of the Passor© province.
