Ouagadougou: The Minister of State, Minister of War and Patriotic Defense, Major General C©lestin Simpor©, announced on Friday that 74.53% of Burkina Faso’s national territory had been reconquered by June 30, 2026. This announcement followed a mid-term evaluation of his objectives contract.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the War Department has shown progress in regaining the country’s territorial integrity. The minister highlighted that in December 2025, the territorial recapture rate stood at 73.56%, which increased to 74.53% by June 2026. He emphasized that defense and security forces have access to all regions within Burkina Faso, with efforts focused on pacifying and securing these areas to facilitate the return of the population and public administration.
The Minister of War noted that even the most remote regions are consistently supplied. The return of the population is being executed in coordination with other ministries, utilizing logistical convoys and supplies by road, as well as air transportation for the administration’s return.
The evaluation revealed that the Department of War achieved a 53.14% completion rate of its mid-term performance contract by June 30, 2026. Major General Simpor© expressed satisfaction with this rate but urged against complacency, emphasizing the importance of continued efforts to meet all objectives by the year’s end.
