Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe boxer Mathias Napaongo, known as “The Fighter,” will step into the ring on Saturday, July 25 at the Amadou Barry Stadium in Dakar, Senegal, to vie for the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title against Senegalese contender Mouhamed Abdalah Diallo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event marks a significant moment for Napaongo, who is currently the leading professional boxer in Burkina Faso. Scheduled to start at 4:00 PM, the match will feature 10 three-minute rounds, where Napaongo aims to uphold the national pride and reclaim the WBA welterweight (66.5 kg) belt for Burkina Faso.

With an unblemished record of 9 wins in 9 fights, including 7 knockouts, Napaongo is poised to make his mark on the international stage. A victory in this championship bout would propel him into the world’s Top 100 Welterweights, potentially elevating his career to new heights in the realm of professional boxing.
