Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Kouls© region, Bernadette Adenyo/Serm©, presided over a regional workshop in Kaya aimed at educating participants on the laws concerning the status of heroes, martyrs, disabled persons, and wards of the Nation. This initiative seeks to strengthen the understanding and application of these legal texts among the region’s vital forces.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop was organized by the Secretariat of the National Commission for the Analysis and Monitoring of the Files of Heroes, Martyrs, and Disabled Persons of the Nation. It is a two-day event that has gathered 75 participants from various sectors, including the Defense and Security Forces, decentralized State services, civil society organizations, customary and religious authorities, and associations representing women, youth, widows, and orphans.

Ms. Adenyo/Serm© highlighted the significance of the Kouls© region, describing it as a symbol of resilience amid the ongoing security crisis. She emphasized that the legal texts reflect the nation’s appreciation for those who have sacrificed their lives for the country and their families. She urged attendees to thoroughly understand these provisions to effectively guide beneficiaries.

Comrade Pingdbamba Esther Som©/Kiema, responsible for the department of administrative, legal, institutional, and political governance at the Prime Minister’s Office, noted that the workshop includes discussions on the rights and privileges associated with the statuses of hero, martyr, invalid, and ward of the Nation. The sessions also cover the procedures for obtaining recognition.

She stated that these laws are designed to acknowledge the contributions of citizens in defending the nation, to honor those who have fallen, and to ensure the protection of their families. She encouraged participants to spread this information, enabling eligible individuals to understand the recognition mechanisms and how to engage with the National Commission.
