Ouagadougou: President Ibrahim Traor© of Burkina Faso has underscored the importance of developing a robust military force to address ongoing security challenges and safeguard future generations from the current adversities faced by the nation. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 25th class of the Georges-Namoano Military Academy (AMGN), Traor© emphasized the urgent need for a “strong and very strong” army.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President Traor© highlighted the international context characterized by “predation” and power struggles, which necessitates the sustainable enhancement of Burkina Faso’s military capabilities. He pointed out that the ongoing conflict should serve as a crucial lesson, as it arose from the weaknesses within the armed forces. This situation, he stressed, calls for a more disciplined and value-driven defense force.

The President articulated a vision for a strong, homegrown army that embodies military values, expressing aspirations for the future of Burkina Faso. He also commended the Georges-Namoano Military Academy for its advancements, particularly in increasing its capacity and introducing indigenous graduation tunics, which marked a significant innovation for the 25th class.

President Traor© reiterated that these initiatives are pivotal in reinforcing the Burkinabe armed forces. “The goal is to have strength in our army so that it grows and becomes a guarantor of our security,” he concluded.
