Ouagadougou: The Association of Journalists of Kouls (AJK), with support from the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, organized a day of immersion on Thursday in Kaya to explore tourist and cultural sites in the province of Sandbondtenga. This initiative aims to encourage media professionals to further promote domestic tourism.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activity is part of a national effort to promote cultural heritage. The day commenced with a presentation by Vincent Oudraogo, an agent of the Regional Directorate of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (DRCAT), who mapped tourist sites in Kouls. AJK coordinator Emil Segda highlighted that the region hosts over 160 tourist and cultural sites, 64 of which are officially recognized, yet remain largely unknown. Segda emphasized that the immersive experience would educate journalists and redirect their efforts towards promoting the region's cultural and tourism assets, acknowledging the ministry's support.

Participants visited the Passat Cultural Association's blast furnaces, remnants of ancient iron metallurgy, and the Kaya municipal museum. Roger Bamogo, the blast furnace guide, expressed hope that the initiative would boost the site's visibility and advocated for its rehabilitation to preserve this heritage for future generations. At the municipal museum, Vincent Oudraogo urged journalists to report more on the region's attractions to encourage visitation.

Safiata Oubda, the regional director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism of Kouls, praised the AJK's initiative as a significant contribution to promoting domestic tourism.
