Gaoua: The Gaoua regional stadium hosted the third edition of the Bambi-Foot regional festival on Tuesday. The event provided an opportunity to assess the skills acquired by young participants through several technical workshops. Program leaders commended the dedication of the coaches and the progress made by the children since the initiative's launch.
According to Burkina Information Agency, representing the Ministry of Basic Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages (MENAPLN) and member of the national coordination of Bambi-Foot, Issaka Oudraogo expressed satisfaction with the festival's progress. He noted reasons for satisfaction based on observations made during the event, commending the strong commitment of the supervisors and the enthusiasm generated by the project. Oudraogo acknowledged the children's expression and joy, while also recognizing room for improvement in future editions.
The head of the supervisors, Sylvestre Som, indicated that this third festival marks an important step in the evolution of the program. He explained that the children were assessed on various age and level-appropriate workshops, including seven-a-side and five-a-side football matches and technical exercises focusing on ball control in slalom and U-shaped corridors.
A precision shooting workshop, similar to a penalty shootout, allowed participants to demonstrate their skill. The children aimed at zones worth two or five points depending on their level of difficulty. Som highlighted that some children managed to score five points, reflecting the progress made since the program's inception.
He added that the results recorded are encouraging and that training sessions will continue with new exercises to strengthen the technical skills of the young practitioners. This third edition of the Bambi-Foot regional festival confirms the growing interest of children and coaches in this grassroots football promotion initiative, focusing on playful learning and the progressive development of motor and technical skills of young participants.
