Ouagadougou: The village of Goabga has a new traditional chief. The new traditional chief of the village of Goabga, in the commune of Niou, was enthroned on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the royal court of the canton chief of Niou, Naba Karfo, in the presence of the populations of Goabga and Niou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony for the enthronement of the traditional chief of the village of Goabga also saw the presence of a delegation from the Mogho Naba Baongo, who came to take part in this significant event in customary life. This enthronement comes following the death of his father in November 2025, thus opening a new stage in the continuity of the traditional chieftaincy of the village.

Now bearing the regnal name "Naba Tegr (food abundance)," the new chief has placed his mandate under the sign of social cohesion, the unity of the daughters and sons of Goabga, and the development of the village. 'I am very moved. It is the custom, and we are called upon to follow in the footsteps of our predecessors. I invite the entire population to unite for the development of our village and Burkina Faso. As a Mossi proverb says, one finger alone cannot gather flour,' said Naba Tegr.

The Samand Naaba of Larl congratulated the new chief and offered him wishes for good governance. He also urged the people to support their leader in fulfilling his mission. "I invite the population to support Naba TEGRE throughout his reign for the happiness of Goabga," he stated, before encouraging him to make religious cohesion one of his priorities.

The head of the Mogho delegation also invited the traditional chiefs present to be the guarantors of tradition.
