Ouagadougou: The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Mali have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing their strategic partnership, as articulated during the 4th session of the High Joint Commission on Moroccan-Malian Cooperation held from July 21 to 24, 2026, in Bamako. The two nations expressed their mutual intention to invigorate economic, trade, and cooperation relations, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session was co-chaired by Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and Mali's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop. The discussions provided an opportunity to conduct a comprehensive review of the bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Both ministers emphasized the strong ties of fraternity and friendship uniting their countries and expressed a shared vision of making Moroccan-Malian relations a model of inter-African cooperation.

In the economic and commercial domain, the importance of strengthening trade between Malian and Moroccan businesses was highlighted. The concurrent Business Forum facilitated the identification of new areas of mutual interest and led to agreements on specific actions to bolster business relations. The session also saw the signing of several cooperation agreements, reinforcing the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation.

The joint communique released at the conclusion of the session confirmed Mali's support for Morocco's territorial integrity and the Autonomy Plan proposed by Morocco as a credible solution to the regional dispute concerning the Sahara region. Additionally, during a meeting with General Assimi Gota, President of the Transition and Head of State of Mali, Minister Nasser Bourita conveyed gratitude from His Majesty King Mohammed VI for Mali's consistent support regarding Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
