Ouagadougou: Former students from the resettled villages of Oualou, Oualoubi, and Youlou in the commune of Tchriba organized the second annual School Excellence Day on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Youlou. This initiative aims to promote educational success while paying tribute to the resilience of the local population and the efforts of those who contributed to the reopening of the schools.According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, held under the theme "Former students in the service of excellence and education," brought together administrative, customary, and educational authorities, along with students and populations from the three twinned villages. The ceremony commenced with blessings from traditional chiefs, represented by the chief of the village of Youlou, Janvier Dobi.The academic results recorded this year reflect the performance achieved by the schools in the three localities. The villages of Oualoubi and Youlou achieved a 100% pass rate on the Primary School Certificate (CEP), while Ou alou recorded a 94.12% pass rate.The master of ceremonies, Ouesseni Logora, President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Tchriba, praised the commitment of the promoters and recalled the challenging journey of the three villages, severely affected by insecurity. He emphasized that the day not only celebrates academic excellence but also honors the bravery of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), whose actions have facilitated the gradual return of populations to their localities.Bayili Joachim, president of the Oualou Alumni Association, expressed that the day reflects the dedication of the villages' sons and daughters to support the sustainable development of education. He urged young people to uphold the values of excellence, unity, and solidarity to consolidate the achievements made through sacrifices for the reconquest of the localities.Presiding over the ceremony, Abdoulaye Dera, primary education inspector representing the He ad of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Tchriba, paid tribute to teachers, local authorities, partners, and all involved in reopening schools. He highlighted the quality of the results obtained as a symbol of the resilience of the educational community.Awards for excellence were presented to the best students from various education levels, and certificates of recognition were given to CM2 teachers for their contributions to the excellent performances recorded. This initiative was spearheaded by the directors of the schools in the three villages, represented by Augustin Kon, director of the Youlou public primary school.Adama Sankara, who played a pivotal role in equipping schools with furniture and rehabilitating educational infrastructure, also received a certificate of recognition for his support of the education sector.The ceremony concluded with a tree-planting operation, symbolizing rebirth, hope, and resilience of the people of Oualou, Oualoubi, and Youlou, who are now committed to making educ ation a lever for their development.
