Ouagadougou: Ousmane Bamogo successfully defended his master's thesis on July 29, 2026, at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, in the Adult Development and Education (DEDA) program, specializing in pedagogy of social change and development. His thesis, entitled "Experimentation with Digital Pedagogical Support in Burkina Faso: A Study of the KoboCollect System," demonstrated the effectiveness of using this system for monitoring and supervising teachers' progress.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the candidate, Ousmane Bamogo, an inspector of primary and non-formal education, validated his master's thesis with an impressive average of 17/20. His research aimed to analyze the contribution of the e-Supervision experiment, through the KoboCollect system, to the improvement of educational supervision in Burkina Faso.
'The Ministry of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages has undertaken reforms aimed at giving a new face to education. It is within this framework that the pilot phase of the digitization of educational support through KoboCollect is being launched during the 2023-2024 school year,' the candidate stated.
The study targeted 84 preschool and primary school supervisors in the Kadiogo, Nando, and Guiriko areas, as well as the central structures involved in the experimentation phase of the KoboCollect system for improving educational supervision.
Mr. Bamogo demonstrated through his research that "the experimentation of the KoboCollect system improves the educational monitoring and control of teachers by reducing transmission times, improving traceability, the quality of reports, and the reliability of data."
"From an institutional management perspective, KoboCollect, through data centralization, facilitates decision-making, planning, rapid report production, data accessibility, and activity monitoring," he added.
The applicant formulated recommendations for a more effective use of the KoboCollect system when it is generalized, including "training and equipping actors with digital tools as well as providing logistical means for their mobility."
'Providing stakeholders with reliable Wi-Fi access or a monthly mobile data allowance for the KoboCollect program,' he suggested.
The defense was chaired by Professor Cyrille Semd, accompanied by jury member Dr. Alexis Nbi, and the thesis supervisor and co-director, Dr. Benjamin Sia.
