Ouagadougou: The commune of Sourgou hosted the official launch of its reforestation campaign as part of the Terroir project on Thursday, with 6,000 seedlings planted. The ceremony took place in the village of Guirgo and was presided over by the prefect, president of the special delegation of the commune of Sourgou, Inoussa Ouedraogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this extensive environmental initiative is being executed in the village forests of Guirgo, La, and Rogho. The project involves collaboration between agents from the departmental Water and Forestry service, representatives from the non-governmental organizations Nitidae and CERDE, as well as significant participation from local populations.
The project aims to plant nearly 6,000 plants across the three forest areas. The initiative is designed to strengthen the vegetation cover, combat desertification, and promote sustainable management of natural resources in the locality.
