Ouagadougou: The Guiri-Guiri Public Primary School in the Bassi basic education district of Zondoma Province held an excellence ceremony on Saturday, July 25, 2026, to honor those involved in education.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was placed under the patronage of Pawelgue Alphonse Ouedraogo, with co-patronage by Issoufou Ouedraogo, and was blessed by His Majesty Naaba Koom of Guiri-Guiri. The ceremony gathered administrative, customary, and religious authorities, as well as educational stakeholders from the Bassi commune.

In his speech, the headmaster Boureima Ouedraogo shared a report highlighting a 96% pass rate in the Certificate of Primary Education exam, with 24 out of 25 candidates passing. He expressed gratitude to the community for their support and emphasized the school's success in winning two football championships at both municipal and provincial levels.

His Majesty Naaba Koom praised the collaborative efforts of all involved parties. Provincial Director of Education, Karim Sawadogo, acknowledged the dedication of contributors and the villagers' efforts in achieving these results.

The ceremony rewarded the top three students in each class with school kits, while the top students in the final year of primary school received bicycles and school kits. All 24 students who passed their exams received school bags, and teachers were honored with certificates of appreciation.

The event also recognized Joseph Bayili, the first director of the school since its opening in 1992. Comrade Bayili, now retired, received tributes from former students and the educational community.
