Ouagadougou: The Zonse Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) recorded a decrease of approximately 79% in malaria cases in the first half of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025. The report was presented on Wednesday, during the general accountability assembly convened by the CSPS major, Comrade P. Eugene Wangre. The meeting was held in the presence of officials from decentralized services, traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and representatives of the communities of the commune.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the assembly aimed to report on the center's activities and to strengthen community involvement in improving the provision of care. The report presented shows that the CSPS conducted 3,076 consultations in the first half of 2026, compared to 2,086 during the same period in 2025, representing an increase of over 47%. During the same period, malaria cases decreased from 897 to 189, a performance that officials attribute to awareness campaigns, the use of insecticide-treated bed nets, and sanitation efforts.
In maternal health, 376 assisted births were recorded, compared to 347 in 2025. Registrations for first-line prenatal consultations (CPN1) are also on the rise, increasing from 363 to 438. However, health workers stressed the importance of pregnant women seeking medical advice as early as the first trimester to prevent complications. They also called for increased awareness of family planning and adherence to the prenatal care schedule.
Two educational talks focused on tuberculosis prevention and the importance of early prenatal care. The financial report for the semester, as well as donations received from residents and the diaspora of Zonse, were also presented, in the interest of transparency. The participants praised the quality of services offered by the CSPS and paid special tribute to the midwife, Comrade Sana Karim, for his professionalism, listening skills, and the respect shown to pregnant women and women in labor.
Finally, the CSPS officials expressed their gratitude to the President of the Special Delegation of the municipality of Zonse, Comrade Wendinmi Frederic Ouedraogo, for his constant support, particularly for maintaining the municipal ambulance in service.
