Ouagadougou: IKA Solution officially launched Burkina Faso's first 100% locally owned data hosting provider, "IKA CLOUD," in the city on Friday, July 31, 2026. The launch event, themed "Digital Sovereignty and Local Hosting: Your Data is Safe Here in Faso," marked a significant step towards enhancing the country's digital sovereignty.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Yaya Ouattara, Managing Director of IKA Solution, announced that 'IKA CLOUD' is a pioneering hosting provider in Burkina Faso offering secure, high-performance infrastructure for local businesses and organizations. He explained that the data hosting center, based within Burkina Faso, allows companies, individuals, start-ups, and institutions to securely host their data on national soil, thus reinforcing the nation's control over its digital assets.
Ouattara emphasized Burkina Faso's strategic priority on digital sovereignty, highlighting the importance of controlling digital infrastructure, data, and essential development services. He clarified the local aspect of data hosting, stating that data is truly hosted locally when stored within a datacenter on Burkina Faso's physical territory. He added that in the digital world, the '.bf' domain signifies Burkina Faso's presence in cyberspace.
The CEO also stressed IKA CLOUD's mission to participate in digital sovereignty by ensuring data security and offering hosting standards comparable to leading international operators. He assured that the high-performance local network guarantees ultra-fast loading times, meeting modern digital economy standards.
The launch of "IKA CLOUD" was supported by the Minister in charge of Digital Transition, with technical advisor Fanta Sombi© praising the initiative. She stated that digital sovereignty is built through investments, innovations, and concrete commitments, emphasizing that a country controlling its digital infrastructure strengthens its ability to protect strategic interests, support the economy, and ensure the continuity of essential services.
Sombi© also highlighted the capability of Burkinabe skills to provide quality technological solutions meeting performance, availability, and security standards. Established in 2014, IKA Solution specializes in IT engineering, digitalization, networks, business software, cloud services, licensing, and information systems security, further contributing to Burkina Faso's digital landscape.
