Kawral Radio Launches 4th Edition of “Kawral Holidays 2026” for a Protective and Inclusive Sahel

S©no: Kawral radio officially launched the fourth edition of its 'Kawral Holidays 2026' program on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in Dori, under the theme: 'Taking action through radio for a more protective and inclusive Sahel'. The ceremony was presided over by the High Commissioner of the S©no province, Comrade Yaya Kon©, in the presence of constituted bodies, listeners, radio partners as well as many young people who came to take part in this cultural and educational activity.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the director of Kawral radio, Comrade Hama Ciss©, indicated that the program will run from August 1st to September 12th, 2026. For six weeks, participants will take part in various competitions, including oratorical contests, slam poetry competitions, and general knowledge tests. He stated that this initiative aims to develop the intellectual capacities, oral expression, and sense of responsibility of young people. He urged them to demonstrate boldness, discipline, and fair play throughout the competitions.

The patron of this fourth edition, the living human treasure, Comrade Hama Boureima Dicko, urged the candidates to prioritize the lessons learned from the competition rather than solely seeking victory. He emphasized that qualities such as discipline, courage, respect, and mastery of public speaking are lasting assets. He commended Radio Kawral for its unwavering commitment to promoting cultural values and the development of young people in S©no.

Speaking at the event, High Commissioner Yaya Kon© stated that the choice of theme reflects the current realities of the region, which is facing security, economic, social, and environmental challenges. He noted that radio remains a powerful tool for raising awareness, training, and educating communities, capable of contributing to strengthening social cohesion, living together, and the resilience of populations.

The High Commissioner invited the candidates to consider this initiative as a true school of civic responsibility, leadership, and accountability. By launching this fourth edition of "Kawral Holidays 2026," Kawral Radio reaffirms its commitment to supporting young people through educational, cultural, and civic activities. The organizers hope that this initiative will help to train responsible young people, committed to the values of peace, solidarity, and inclusion, while strengthening the resilience of communities in the Liptako and Soum region.
