Ouagadougou: In Pinr©, the mobilization against measles and rubella is intensifying: Mobilization remains satisfactory on the second day of the reactive measles and rubella vaccination campaign in the Pinr© health center area, M©guet commune. This Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the Pinr© school is serving as a vaccination site, where health workers and their assistants, community leaders, and local residents are working together to reach the targeted children.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the campaign, which began on August 3rd and is set to continue until August 9th, 2026, aims to immunize children aged 6 months to 10 years in the Zorgho health district. The Pinr© CSPS health area encompasses six neighborhoods.
The head nurse of the Pinr© CSPS, Rasman© Yougbar©, reported that mobilization efforts are progressing well in the region. However, he noted that parental involvement varies. While some parents readily participate, understanding the campaign's importance, others require more information about the operation's context and justification, especially since it is not conducted nationwide.
Rasman© Yougbar© highlighted several challenges faced during the campaign. Morning rains complicate team deployment, and the demands of farm work lead some families to delay vaccination. Additionally, social media rumors create fear and confusion among some parents. Concerns about children crying also cause some mothers to delay vaccinations to continue their work.
To maximize vaccination coverage, teams engage in continuous communication, conduct targeted outreach in specific areas, and work with community leaders to enhance mobilization.
The ICP encouraged parents to seize this opportunity to protect their children against measles and rubella, amid a rise in measles cases in some regions. He advised against relying on social media rumors and urged seeking accurate information from healthcare workers and official Ministry of Health channels.
