Ouagadougou: The Kouls© Regional Development Framework (CRD), in its second ordinary session of the year held on Friday, August 5, 2026, lauded the region's commendable performance in the school and professional examinations for the 2026 session, which saw a significant rise in success rates across all levels of education.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the region recorded notable achievements in various examinations. For the Primary School Leaving Certificate (CEP), 18,001 candidates registered, with 17,481 appearing across 101 examination centers within 35 juries. The region achieved a pass rate of 96.17%, a four-point increase from the 2025 session and surpassing the national average.
In the Junior High School Certificate (BEPC) examination, 4,301 out of 8,031 candidates passed, resulting in a pass rate of 53.55%, marking a 7.45 percentage point improvement. The Baccalaureate exam recorded a 63.89% pass rate, with 2,222 candidates succeeding out of 3,478 present, reflecting a 5.49 percentage point increase from 2025.
Technical and vocational education and training displayed encouraging outcomes as well, with success rates of 87.72% in the Vocational Aptitude Certificate (CAP), 86.58% in the Vocational Studies Certificate (BEP), 90.05% in the Vocational Qualification Certificate (CQP), and 96.23% in the Vocational Qualification Certificate (BQP), all showing improvements over the last session.
Education officials attribute these successes to the gradual return of students to schools, the reopening of several educational institutions, the quality of teaching supervision, and the concerted efforts of authorities, defense and security forces, and education partners.
The regional secretary general, Bernadette Adenyo/Serm©, who presides over the Regional Development Council (CRD), extended her congratulations to all involved in the education system for these accomplishments, achieved despite a challenging security environment. She urged everyone to sustain this progress to further strengthen and pursue excellence in the region's educational institutions.
