Ouagadougou: The association "Action for Culture and Tourism at School" (ACTE-school) of Kourittenga organized, on Saturday August 8, 2026 in Ouagadougou, a discovery outing for the benefit of the best students in the Primary School Certificate (CEP), 2026 session. The initiative allowed the five best students from the two Basic Education Centers (CEB) of Koupla, as well as two internally displaced students from each CEB, to discover the Thomas Sankara Memorial.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this outing reflects ACTE-cole's commitment to promoting culture and tourism in schools, while encouraging students to strive for excellence. For the participants, this day was an opportunity for learning, discovery, and relaxation. The visit began with a guided tour led by Georgette Sawadogo, a guide at the Thomas Sankara Memorial.
The children were thus able to learn more about the history and career of Captain Thomas Sankara, an emblematic figure of the Burkinabe Revolution. The various explanations provided by the guide allowed the students to better understand her commitment, her ideals and her vision for Burkina Faso.
After this historical immersion, the students also enjoyed a moment of relaxation. A friendly atmosphere allowed the children to share joyful moments and strengthen their bonds. On behalf of her classmates, Wendpanga Isabelle Appoline Oudraogo expressed her gratitude to ACTE-cole for this initiative.

For the coordinator of ACTE-school, Roger Belemgnegr, this outing is above all a way of recognizing the efforts made by the students during the school year. 'This initiative is a way for us to recognize and reward the efforts of these students who distinguished themselves through their results in the CEP. We also want to encourage them to redouble their efforts in the rest of their schooling. Through them, we hope to encourage other students to work hard, because excellence deserves to be encouraged and valued,' explained the coordinator.
The guided tour was also an opportunity for Georgette Sawadogo to congratulate the children for the opportunity they were given to discover this historic place. She invited them to take greater ownership of the history of Burkina Faso and the values ??championed by Thomas Sankara.
'I congratulate the children for this opportunity which they have seized. It is important that young people know their history and are interested in those who have marked the history of our country. I invite all Burkinab¨ revolutionary citizens to do the same, to come and discover this place and to always keep Captain Thomas Sankara in our hearts, through his ideals and the values ??he defended,' she said.
