Hanoi: Members of the Tougan Public Hygiene Police Brigade took their oath on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, before the Tougan High Court, in the presence of the president of the special delegation of the municipality, Ouigou Tiendrebogo. On this occasion, they pledged to faithfully carry out their duties.

According to Burkina Information Agency, a total of five members comprise this brigade, which is tasked with ensuring strict compliance with the provisions of the Public Hygiene Code. Their mission is to help guarantee a healthy living environment and preserve the health of the population.

During the swearing-in ceremony, each member committed to performing their functions impartially and in compliance with the law establishing the Public Health Code. They also undertook not to disclose any results of their investigations or receive any direct remuneration or gratuity outside of what is legally provided.

Assistant Dany Bernard Yabo, the deputy commander of the municipal police and a member of the brigade, stated that the ceremony marked the effective start of their public health missions within the municipality. He affirmed his commitment to ensuring public health across Tougan, focusing on interventions in various public spaces such as streets, bakeries, bars, hotels, cafeterias, and homes.

Ouigou Tiendrebogo, the PDS of Tougan, described the brigade as a local variant of the Laabal brigade, tasked with raising public awareness about hygiene, monitoring compliance with hygiene rules, and issuing notices and fines for violations.

Magistrate Kabisiga Antoine Combary, president of the Tougan High Court, urged the brigade members to execute their duties in strict accordance with applicable laws. He also called on the municipality's leadership to support the brigade's mission.

The public hygiene police brigade members were appointed on July 3, 2026, by the prefect, who serves as the president of the special delegation of Tougan.
