Acting Governor Bernadette Adenyo/Serme Praises Strong Support for Patriotic Immersion Program

Ouagadougou: The acting governor of the Koulse region, Bernadette Adenyo/Serme, on Wednesday praised the outpouring of solidarity from the various socio-professional components of her jurisdiction and expressed her gratitude to all the supporters of the second edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion (IPO).

According to Burkina Information Agency, Comrade Adenyo/Serme was speaking at a ceremony for the collective handover of a batch of food and non-food items donated by economic operators, NGOs, associations, and individuals to the patriotic immersion center of the Sainte-Ther¨se d'Avila private college in Kaya. Composed of pasta, couscous, canned goods, oil, soumbala, soap, and many other items, the donation, intended for those called up for the second edition of the IPO in the Koulse region, was handed over to the governor of the region in the presence of IPO stakeholders.

This handover ceremony was an opportunity for the regional authority to commend the outpouring of solidarity expressed by the various components of the Koulse vital forces, a sign of their support for this initiative aimed at instilling in young people the values of civic duty, patriotism, and respect for public property. "Patriotic immersion cannot be the sole prerogative of the State. As parents, as a community, we must all do our part," said Comrade Adonyo/Serme, expressing her "great gratitude" to all the donors from the provinces of Sandbondtenga, Bam, and Namentenga.

According to her, the diversity and value of the contributions demonstrate a genuine sense of ownership of the initiative by the local population. "We received all kinds of donations. The associations also got organized. We can only thank them," she added.

Jean Marc Paodigue, spokesperson for the donors, explained that their mobilization responds to a "moral and civic obligation" to support the vision of the authorities aimed at training a youth committed to civic duty and patriotism. "If the vision is to instill civic responsibility, patriotism, and respect for public property in young people, then we, as economic actors, must mobilize to make this vision a reality," emphasized Mr. Paodigue. He noted that the mobilization was not limited to economic operators, but involved "all socio-professional components" of the region.

The acting governor believes this momentum should be maintained and amplified in future editions. She expressed her hope that support for the IPO would be integrated into the programming of various stakeholders starting in 2027, thereby enabling even stronger mobilization around patriotic youth education.
