Ouagadougou: More than 200 people were registered for the CIB-AES biometric identity card as a team from the identity card establishment service of the Ouahigouya gendarmerie visited Oula on Tuesday, August 18, AIB observed on site.

According to Burkina Information Agency, with civil status documents in hand, hundreds of men, women, and young people lined up to be registered. Amidou Guiro, a resident of the village of Ouro-Yarc, successfully registered and now waits for his new biometric identity card. Guiro expressed appreciation for the gendarmerie's efforts, noting the convenience it brought to those living outside major cities by saving time and travel expenses.

Augustin Koussoub, Secretary General of the Oula town hall, praised the strong mobilization of residents from various villages within the municipality. He highlighted that obtaining the card would facilitate travel and other activities requiring identification.

Adjutant Issouf Sanou, responsible for registering identity cards at the Ouahigouya gendarmerie, explained that this special operation was initiated by the national gendarmerie's highest hierarchy. "We aim to bring the CIB-AES establishment service closer to both urban and rural populations. This is an opportunity to demonstrate that the gendarmerie provides a CIB-AES establishment service, helping those who face difficulties in obtaining their identification documents," said Adjutant Sanou.

On the first day, more than two hundred people were registered. The day before, the mobile team registered about one hundred people in sector 11 of the Ouahigouya municipality.
