Ouagadougou: In tandem with the provincial coordination of citizen watch associations, the inhabitants of the villages of Minima, Songdin, and Taslima, undertook community work to rehabilitate the road leading to Taslima in the commune of Bassi on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in preparation for the celebration of Maouloud in the village of Taslima in the commune of Bassi, the provincial coordination of citizen watch associations of Zondoma, in partnership with the local residents, initiated rehabilitation work on the road which serves the locality. This initiative aims to facilitate access to this locality, which experiences a large influx of people during the Mawlid celebrations, as stated by the provincial coordinator of the organization, Oumarou Oudraogo. The event was attended by Sanata Oudraogo, the representative to the President of Burkina Faso for the Yaadga region.
Commending the day's mobilization, she encouraged participants to maintain this momentum of engagement. "That's all we ask of the people: to organize themselves to resolve their difficulties while awaiting support from the State," she declared, inviting other localities to follow this example of civic and patriotic commitment.
For the president of the citizen watch of Taslima, Abdou-Rahim Oudraogo, this action aligns with the ideals of the popular progressive revolution, which encourages everyone to commit to the building of the homeland. Armed with picks and shovels, the residents filled in the damaged sections with earth and stones. Tricycles provided by volunteers were used to transport the materials to the areas requiring repair.
The operation allowed work to be carried out on more than 10 kilometers of this road, which is approximately 17 kilometers long between Gourcy and Taslima. For the past three years, the local population, with the support of citizen monitoring, has been undertaking rehabilitation work on this road during the winter season.
After the work, the participants paid their respects to the Sheikh of Taslima, who is preparing for the celebration of Maouloud on August 25th.
