Ouagadougou: The Ziga Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS), located in the commune of Sanaba, Banwa province, has initiated the second phase of the national Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (CPS Plus) campaign. This launch, led by the head nurse of the post (ICP), Major Faissale Sanogo, began on August 20, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the campaign was held from August 20 to 23, 2026, targeting children aged 3 to 59 months. It was executed by health personnel in collaboration with community health workers (CHWs) and community distributors. The teams employed a door-to-door strategy to ensure that preventive treatment reached eligible children across the different neighborhoods of Ziga.

ICP Faissale Sanogo highlighted that this phase encompasses four main interventions: screening for acute malnutrition in children aged 6 to 59 months, administering CPS treatment to children aged 3 to 59 months, identifying children aged 5 to 23 months with incomplete malaria vaccination schedules, and eliminating larval breeding sites.

Moidi Konat, a local resident, expressed that this campaign is crucial for enhancing malaria prevention among children under five, a group particularly at risk during the rainy season. He encouraged mothers and caregivers to stay home to facilitate the teams' efforts.

The ICP also called upon community health workers and distributors to continue promoting other malaria prevention methods, such as using insecticide-treated bed nets and maintaining proper sanitation practices. "Protecting children from malaria is protecting our future," it stated.
