Ouagadougou: The youth of the “Le Rocher” church are restoring a passageway for local residents: Young people from the “Le Rocher” church in Pila began rehabilitation work on August 22, 2026, on a passage located on the axis linking the town hall to the kindergarten, in order to improve the circulation of local residents and limit the effects of runoff water.

According to Burkina Information Agency, over a distance of approximately 100 meters, the work primarily involved constructing retaining walls to slow down and channel rainwater. Some ditches were also filled in to improve the condition of the road and facilitate pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

Equipped with picks, shovels, and other tools, the young people helped to make this road, frequented by residents, more accessible. The initiative comes at a time when runoff water is a source of road degradation and complicates travel during the rainy season.

According to the initiators, these works are primarily aimed at reducing the impact of rainwater on this route and preserving its accessibility to local populations as much as possible. For the pastor of the “Le Rocher” church, Jalouaga Lankoand, this action reflects the Christian community’s desire to put its faith at the service of the common good.

“Faith without works is dead faith,” he said, referring to the biblical teaching that faith must be demonstrated through concrete actions for the benefit of others. Through this initiative, the church youth intend to contribute to improving the living conditions in their immediate environment, while providing a concrete response to a concern that directly affects the population.

For church leaders, this action is also a way to encourage young people to become more involved in community initiatives and to cultivate the values of solidarity, service, and sharing. This activity is therefore part of a process of civic participation and service to the community, beyond the strictly religious activities of the church.
